I had a blast at Brunch and Piano! Thank you for being so patient as I got reacquainted with notes and playing music. You are a great teacher!

I had a great first piano lesson at Piano-n-Brunch last Sunday. Pierre is a great teacher, patient and very positive. Highly recommend him to teach your child or an adult, Thank you, Pierre !

I am proud to be able to recommend the services and method of The Beverly Hills School of Music.

Pierre Andre is consummate professional and it has been a pure pleasure to get to know him this past year as he’s instructed my son, Nathan.

Pierre has been teaching Nathan music and piano for a year, since he turned 4. In that year, Nathan has learned how to read music, keep rhythm and play the piano. Pierre’s method is structured, but fun. Nathan really loved learning the notes and rhythm through stickers, clapping and drawing. He looks forward to his lessons with Pierre. Whats-more, he insists on practicing each day.

Of course, it is not all play. When Nathan first began working on Ode to Joy, he became a bit frustrated. After he had learned it, though, he was so excited and proud, he could hardly contain himself. Even now, each time he is having trouble with a song, he will go back and play Ode to Joy to feel better and regain the energy to continue.

Pierre has been extremely helpful to us, since neither my wife nor I have a musical background. Pierre takes the time to explain what he and Nathan have been working on, so we can help him. He also prepares the homework each week by annotating the music with fingerings, position changes and other notes. Pierre makes mp3s of the songs available or records them on the piano, so that Nathan has an example of what the song should sound like, which is very important when trying to learn a new piece.

The choice of a piano teacher is a difficult one. We wanted a serious school, where our son could learn, but not someone so strict as to take all the pleasure from music. This is indeed a rare combination. My wife searched for a long time before finding the Beverly Hills School of Music.

After interviewing Pierre, we knew we’d found a match.

Serena began studying with Pierre André in September and has flourished since then under his guidance. She enthusiastically engages her assigned compositions and practices spontaneously with pleasure at any time of day or night !

Pierre André not only teaches music but conveys his passion and creativity to his students -putting the fun back in music. Now we hear her say “Listen Mom -I love this so much,” as she plays a tune again and again.

Pierre André also nurtures her creative impulses. As a result Serena not only learns to interpret, but has developed the confidence to explore composition and improvisation as well.

He is a gifted teacher whose talent will enrich any child’s creative life going forward.

My daughter has been studying piano with Pierre André since last September and I have seen, rather heard, dramatic improvement in her skill and technique on the instrument, and overall comprehension of music.

Stéphanie has a very busy schedule with homework and team sports, so her daily practice sometimes suffers. Nevertheless, her progress is consistent even if it’s not as fast as it could be.

She is determined to succeed and Pierre André does his utmost, as a teacher, to ensure that she does.

Pierre André is a very talented musician and teacher; I strongly recommend his services.

It’s during our stay in Los Angeles that we had the joy of encountering Pierre André.

Originally, Pierre was a music teacher at the Le Lycée Français where he met our two sons: Julien and Vincent. Eventually, both of them developed a great relationship with him and started studying Piano privately.

The first year was a real challenge as we didn’t own a real piano (just a small keyboard) and, despite Pierre’s hard work, it was sometimes hard to keep the children interested. However, the second year we acquired an upright piano an it changed the landscape completely.

Vincent developed an impressive discipline with the instrument (he would wake up at 7AM and practice his Piano before attending the Lycée) while Julien, always a little more loose, mostly focused on tunes so that he could impress his friends every time there was a party.

When it came to the concerts, both Julien and Vincent handled the pressure well and we were more than satisfied with the end result.

Now that we’ve relocated to France, we miss Pierre’s energy but our loss is your gain so here’s your chance to have access to a great teacher.

For the past year, Pierre André has been spending three hours a week teaching Piano and French language to my Children. Under his helm, they quickly achieved a terrific level on the instrument as well as being able to engage in French conversations.

Such a high dosage of private education (two hours of Piano, one hour of French) may sound like a lot but Pierre invested all of his energy and imagination into constantly finding new ways to keep my children interested; not a small feat considering you’re dealing with two Magnet Elementary School participants.

While my children had to work hard, they succeeded on multiple levels.

By being exposed to the French language in an audio-visual manner via the use of method books and CDs imported from Paris, they accomplished two years in one and are now attending the LILA (Lycée International de Los Angeles). As a reminder, they didn’t speak a word of French a year ago !

On a musical level, they developed a technical and lyrical expertise which allowed them to immediately express their musical side while having fun at the same time.

The true test came under the shape of two separate concerts: a Christmas recital devoted to Religious and Disney music as well as a Film Music concert which took place last May at The Jazz Bakery in Culver City.

It’s during this second concert that my son, Kieran, interpreted a free flowing, almost elegiac, rendition of John Ottman’s score for Superman Returns which had the audience shivering. My daughter, Anneka, pushed even more the boundaries of her piano skills by performing several pieces from The Incredibles by Michael Giacchino.

Not only was she facing a Jazz idiom (The Incredibles is heavily Jazz influenced and requires swing; something that takes years to nurture) but she was able to play as part of a Jazz trio with two professional Berklee College of Music Graduate musicians (double bass and drums) for a total of three pieces.

I still remember how Pierre, for the final piece of the concert, called her back to the stage for what was to be her first Jazz solo !

With only a few indications from her teacher, she delivered the goods by stating some very strong counter melodies and brought a great closure to the show (her dad’s a musician too but I guess you’ve figured this by now if you’re still reading !).

So as you can imagine, I truly recommend Pierre as a French and Piano teacher. He’s able to get the best of my Children and will definitely get the best of yours too !

Since our arrival in Los Angeles eighteen months ago, Pierre André has been teaching Piano to both of my daughters.

The eldest already had a few years of Piano studies behind her, having taken classes at the Conservatory and with a Piano private teacher.

Pierre André made her discover a new, complementary, way to approach music via an exposure to Film Music, Jazz and Improvisation. He also helped her prepare the music examination of her upcoming French Baccalauréat.

My second daughter initiated her Piano education with him after two years of flute studies. Pierre André was keen on motivating her by alternating technical exercises and the study of a diverse repertory: Classical, Jazz, Cartoons and Film / TV series.

Each semester, the concerts of the French Piano Academy are nothing less than the Academy Awards of Pierre André’s students. In a nutshell, with the study of Film Music and a key to the Oscars (re: trophies), the children practice their Piano in a Hollywood atmosphere !
